The Ascension was an event in Cornucopias Earth's history that started in an unknown year and included the transfer of human civilization from the planetary surface to the sky arcologies built in the planetary atmosphere. It is unknown how long the Ascension took to complete or who was involved in the planning and execution.

Causes

The need to move the population, the millennia spanning culture and the Earth's ecosystem was precipitated by the events of The Cataclysm.

Because of quantum storms triggered by the The Cataclysm the habitability of planet Earth wasn’t compatible anymore with humanity.

What was saved

It is unknown what actually was saved.

At present

The event was considered mostly a success as some of humanity’s culture, population and parts of the planet’s ecology were saved. It is presumed not everything was saved and that there were and are people that consider the event as a failure or that it could have been done better.
